Providing extra support to local Emergency Services
October 31, 2011

Coal & Allied has donated funds to the local State Emergency Services in Singleton and Muswellbrook which service the communities around its local mine sites, Hunter Valley Operations, Mount Thorley Warkworth and Bengalla.

The Local Controllers for the Singleton and Muswellbrook SES units said the donation would be put to good use. Singleton Local Controller Simon Merrick, who works at the Mount Thorley Warkworth mine said that the Service was looking to buy a marquee to provide shelter for volunteers when they're working, as well as a video camera to film actual operations and use the footage in training. Muswellbrook Local Controller Mark Elsley said the donation came at an important time for the unit, which was looking to move into new headquarters.
