Mine helping unearth group one winners
June 17, 2013

Edinglassie, a 202-hectare property situated on the banks of the Hunter River, has been leased out by BHP Billiton Mt Arthur Coal as a thoroughbred stud farm since the property was purchased in 1998. The homestead at Edinglassie is listed on the Australian Heritage Register and is of high local significance on the State Heritage Register.

Initially settled by the White family over 150 years ago, the property was sold to Mt Arthur Coal in November 1998. The property has operated as a thoroughbred stud farm since that time.

Edinglassie bred around 50 foals in 2011, following many high class racehorses produced there, including Group 1 winners Bentley Biscuit, Wonderful World, Gods Own, Nadeem, Tell a Tale, Sharscay, Miss Margaret, Suntain, Emerald Dream and Laisserfaire.

The Hunter River provides fertile irrigated pastures with both undulating hills for young stock and lucerne flats for mares and foals.
